South African Youth Weightlifters Lifting Their Dreams
- GroundUp</em></a> that SA Weightlifting Champion in the 81kg class, Khati Mabuya started Lifting Dreams Soweto out of his mother's front yard in 2019, on Letsoala street, just meters away from where the 1976 Soweto Uprising took place. It is the only weightlifting club in the South African township. <a href=https://allafrica.com/view/photoessay/post/post/id/"https://liftingdreams.co.za/">Lifting Dreams Soweto </a>offers free weightlifting training for children aged nine to 17. Khati Mabuya started the club with his brother, Katleho, to get children off the streets and out of trouble and to teach them discipline and perseverance.
