Kenya, Netherlands to Strengthen Bilateral Trade

Nairobi — Kenya and the Netherlands are looking to strengthen trade deals that will allow citizens of both countries to prosper.

The trade will be centered on livestock, vegetables, fish, tobacco, horticulture, livestock, fruits, tea, and coffee.

This was announced in the Netherlands when President William Ruto paid a courtesy visit to the country's king, Willem-Alexander.

The European country is Kenya's biggest market for cut flowers, which earn the country billions of shillings annually.

For example, in 2021, Kenya exported Sh61.6 billion worth of goods to the Netherlands, with flowers being one of the most exported products.

On the other hand, the state imported Sh46.8 billion worth of products from the country, meaning the trade is favoring the country.

They also discussed climate change and the country's goal of achieving wildlife conservation and green growth.

"The Netherlands will continue supporting Kenya in the development of Arid and semi-arid lands,

rural domestic water supply and sanitation, health, infrastructure development and agricultural," a statement from the president's office said.
